	North Carolina Hickory – Fr. Henry Patterson has started a new congregation called St. Mark’s, meeting on Sundays at 11 a.m. at the Oakwood Elementary School, 366 4th Street NW in Hickory. Michigan Bloomfield Hills –the 15th Annual St. Michael’s Youth Conference will be from July 15 – 21 at the Manresa Jesuit Retreat Center, 1390 Quarton Road, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304 (www.manresa-sj.org). A highly recommended book, an excellent summary for inquirers, older confirmands, and clergy and laity in general: Peter Kreeft’s *You Can Understand the Old Testament, A Book-by-Book Guide for Catholics* (Ann Arbor, Servant Publications, 1990). “If you thought you could never enjoy the Old Testament, it’s time to take another look.” Prayer request: for Christians under persecution in Iraq. Thanksgivings: that Fr. David Hoare and Betty Murphy (Bishop Patrick Murphy’s wife) are on the mend.
