Virginia

Marshall – St. John the Baptist.  Let us continue to remember Father David Hoare, the Rector, in our prayers, as he recovers from heart surgery in Gibraltar, and remember St. John the Baptist, as they await his return.

Michigan

South Carolina

Columbia –  The Diocesan Synod, 3-5 May, did the following:  enthroned the Bishop, thereby making the Church of the Epiphany our Pro-Cathedral, installed Fr. Craig Young as the Dean and Canon Robert Bader as our newest Canon, seated delegates from 5 new parishes and missions, passed a $77,000 budget which includes an additional $3,000 to the work of St. Theodore of Tarsus Anglican Chapel at the USC Campus in Columbia, and $500 seed money for the ACW, elected the slate of officers which is in the new directory, heard Marcia Segelstein’s superb banquet address and was inspired by Fr. Chip Angell’s sermon on St. Monica.  The Standing Committee commended Ed Moore, Steve Maas and Sam Zimmerman for ordination to the Permanent Diaconate.  The consensus of the Synod is that we should meet every year, and the time and place of the next Synod will be noted in the next Fortnightly.

North Carolina

Pinehurst – During the 5-7 May Episcopal Visit, it came to light that Fr. Tom Parsons and Junior Warden Donn Saunders would like to serve on an Editorial Board for reviewing Church School curricula.  The Board now consists of the Bishop, Bishop Timothy Farmer, Denise Patterson, Fr. Tom and Donn Saunders, and will begin to meet by e-mail.

Texas

Brownsville – Church of the Redeemer, Episcopal Visit, 1-3 June.  Fr. George Graydon, the Rector, says that the Parish is in need of 1928 Prayer Books in Spanish...as many as it can get.  E-mail deltafuneraldirectors@yahoo.com for instructions on where to send Spanish Prayer Books.


Delaware

Wilmington St. Mary’s Anglican Catholic Church is hosting the next Anglican Guild of Scholars Meeting from 4-6 September.  The theme is “The Anglican Tradition:  A Living Past, a Living Present and a Living Future.”  If you would like to submit a paper, get in touch with the Rev. Canon Kenneth W. Gunn-Walberg at canonken@mymailstation.com.  Papers should be approximately one half hour long and will be followed by 15-minute discussion.  Possible topics (Past):  Prayer Book History, the metaphysical poets, the Caroline Divines, the Oxford Movement, Missions.  (Present):  Healing our Divisions, Liberalism & Feminism, the Challenge of Islam, the Secular Challenge, the Mega-Churches.  (Future):  Missions, Africa, South America, China, Orthodoxy & Rome.
